KKC Race Course

The Klamath Kinetic Challenge will be centered in Veteran's Park on the shore of Lake Ewauna in downtown Klamath Falls, OR. Details of the course under continual development, but the course is something like this:

Parade

After check in, safety & equipment checks there will be a Parade through downtown Klamath Falls. Well sort of a race/parade. After a Le Mans start in Veterans Park racers will sprint down Klamath Avenue to Eleventh St. A left turn will bring the racers to Main St. Here the Sculptures will be staged for a mass start. The first to arrive will have the pole position, the second the second spot and so on. A mass start will send the racers down Main St. back towards Veterans Park. Racing past the Park they'll be faced with Killer KAGO Hill.

KAGO Hill to Moore Park

Right off the bat, racers will be faced with "Killer KAGO Hill", a short but steep paved section. The race will then travel a new path "The Gravel Boulevard" toward Moore Park. Those surviving will continue to Moore Park and a tour through the upper sections of the park. Racers are advised to watch out for deer and the occasional cougar, oh and speed bumps. The views are well worth the short climbs.

Moore Park

A rest break for lunch is planned in Moore Park. A chance to rest and show off the sculptures to the enthusiastic crowds.

Sand

How could you have a Kinetic Sculpture Race without sand? However for the KKC this section is short, just long enough to sink the unprepared and amaze the hoards of fans. It's so short that we've added some obstacles on the way to the sand. This will occur in Moore Park after lunch. Each sculpture will be individually times through this section.

Link River

Once out of the sand, racers will travel a short distance on Lakeshore Dr. before heading along Link River Trail. A nice gravel section along Link River. This comes out at the base of Killer KAGO hill. Vechiles travel over the bridge and back to Veterans Park.

Mud

Not this year. The course goes from Link River directly to Veterans Park for the water event.

Ewauna Lake

From Veteran's Park, on the shores of Lake Ewauna, the water section of the race will be conducted. Racers will undertake a loop on the lake, complete some undetermined feat, and return to Veteran's Park, smiling enthusiastically

Awards

An awards dinner will be held at Veteran's Park, with entertainment
