2006 Workshop
In preparation for the 2006 Klamath Kinetic Sculpture Race a Builders Workshop was held October 22, 2005 at Oregon Institute of Technology.
Instead of building a sculpture, as was done last year, this years workshop presented information about building your own sculpture.
The one day Kinetic Builders Workshop suggested solutions to gearing, braking (breaking) and other elements of Kinetic Sculptures. Choice of proper gearing for vehicles, how many gears and how low those gears need to go to get up Killer KAGO Hill was covered. Also how to stop without wearing out the soles of your shoes or the gloves on your hand. Types of brakes commonly used and what not to use were talked about. Other problems such as flotation and treads for mud were touched upon.
We even talked about other important Kinetic skills including pageantry, techniques for bribing Judges and other important persons (particularly the Kinetic Deva).
It would be great to show some great pictures, however powerpoint slides of graphs and equations aren't very exciting. So, sorry not pics.
