2005 Builders Workshop

Red Barge of Courage

The 2005 Klamath Kinetic Sculpture Workshop was held Feb. 12-13, 2005. It was a success inspiring several groups to build Sculptures for the First Klamath KSR.

Our thanks to Diamond Home Improvement for sponsoring the Workshop. Please consider Diamond for your Kinetic building needs, and while you're there thank them for their generous support.

Five "Kinetic Professors" came to Klamath offering their knowledge and enthusiasm.

We owe them all a debt of gratitude for the time and energy they generously gave to this effort. Bob T and Dan even brought their Kinetic Sculptures to show and ride.

Ten participants worked diligently constructing a kinetic sculpture over the two day Workshop. Along the way they learned about the fine points of building a Kinetic Sculpture, what to do and what to watch out for. Several more dropped by during the workshop to see what was up.

The frame/hull is constructed mostly of 2x2 lumber with 1/4 inch plywood skins. Below is a picture as it's nearing completion.

The hull and main structure was completed during the workshop. At the end of the workshop there were "a few" details to be completed. The drive and seats are among these. Other details left include steering, brakes, art, etc.

The Red Barge of Courage was taken over by Chris, a high school student and one of the workshop participants. He did a great job in finishing up the vehicle for the First Annual KKSR. He renamed it Wild Ride and made his way around the KKSR course.

If you're considering building a Sculpture for the KKSR please let us know. We may be able to help or connect you with others who can. Plans for the Red Barge of Courage are freely available. This will be a great sculpture to build or likewise give you a starting point for your own creation.

Our thanks go out to everyone making the workshop a success. Particularly to the visiting Kinetic Professors and Diamond Home Improvement. Thank you.

FOR THE FUN !
